One tenant confirmed for the new Velo Apartments on Gottingen across from the library. Blue Collar Barbershop "A place where age-old traditions meet with modern application and skill."



US retailer of pop culture fashions and collectibles Hot Topic is coming to Mic Mac Mall later this year. They will be opening on the second floor in part of the space that was the Calendar Club. No confirmation yet though is if their rumoured sister store Torrid is coming.

Downtown Dartmouth is getting a second-hand bookshop in te next few weeks. Brightside Books is opening on Wentworth St in the cute little building which was most recently New Scotland Clothing

The Bread Lounge Bakery who has been hiding out in Bedford Place Mall for a few years is opening a second location in North End Halifax on DeMone St across from the Lions Head late this spring

Apartment 3 Espresso Bar is coming to Sackville Dr. The coffee shop will be opening in the building where Pizzadelic/Enterprise are.

Nimbus Publishing and Vagrant Press who allow authors to express their Maritime stories, passions and history and more are moving their HQ to Strawberry Hill, and they will be adding a coffee shop! Open Book Coffee opens this May.

Sunnyside Mall welcomed back their pizza gem, On The Wedge reopened after a few month renovations, many menu items from the former Presto will be added to On The Wedge this week.

Gottingen's Scotia Pharmacy (Guardian) is moving across the street to the main floor of the Macdonald Building.Direction 180 the non-profit methadone clinic will be moving in the current pharmacy space

Toys R Us is expected to start the liquidation of its American stores this week, but at this point in time, it is business as usual for Canada. The prediction is the Canadian operation will continue as a separate company.

Also sounds like Claire's/Icing will be filing bankruptcy protection in the US no word on what it means for Canadian stores



Sobeys has rolled out new thinner bags. (which they have used out West for years) A change though for something that has become part of Maritime slang for all plastic bags.
