Depending on your health insurance, this may make a difference in your purchasing routine. I realize there are loyalty point incentives for different vendors. Another factor to consider is the price per pill for different medications, but using British Columbia’s PharmacyCompass, Walmart and Costco also came out on the low-end price per pill of the ten common drugs I checked. (but I can’t say NS prices are the same) Also worth mentioning that you do not need to be a member to use the Costco Pharmacy
But for dispensing fees alone here is how it shakes
Pharmacy | Low | High |
---|---|---|
Costco | $4.49 | $4.49 |
No Frills | $6.99 | $6.99 |
WalMart | $8.54 | $8.63 |
SuperStore | $8.95 | $8.99 |
Medicine Shoppe | $10.45 | $13.00 |
Sobeys | $10.95 | $10.99 |
Lawtons | $11.85 | $11.88 |
Shoppers | $11.85 | $11.99 |
Guardian | $11.85 | $11.91 |
PharmaChoice | $12.10 | $12.14 |

Numbers from Manion Wilkins 2017 Q4 report on fees in Canada
I’m totally disgusted by these dispensing fees! I was excited that a pharmacy opened up next door to me but only to find out their dispensing fees were the highest! Especially being in a neighbourhood where it’s mostly lower income. It would have been very convenient for me personally but sadly no insurance and I have lots of meds so I won’t be taking my business there!
Do you have an updated list for 2019-2020?
