A couple of weeks before the pandemic began long-standing Chinese restaurant  Cheelin closed its Brewery Market restaurant with the intent to open on Spring Garden Road. That never happened, but now they are opening on the Bedford Highway in what was once the long-term home of House of Mei Mei and now they are adding Korean BBQ as well,

Speaking of pandemic closures, East Coast Dumpling House on Cole Harbour Road finally reopened after being closed since the first shutdown. 

Niche Lounge is on the move and will be relocating in August nearby to the corner of Granville and Sackville (former Mongolie Grill/Sake)

Shawarman on Windmill Road  which changed hands late last year and added sushi to its menu has now completely changed over to Kaizen Sushi and Ramen.

Jamaica Vibes is done. This time I don’t think it will resurface.

This week for SaltWire I wrote about the newly opened Hello Pets at 3569 Dutch Village Rd in Fairview

They have a Grand Opening Aug 9

“We always felt Halifax was our home. We wanted to create a space where people could come together and share the joy of owning a pet.”

The group knew Fairview was the right place for them as the support they’ve received from the community has been heartwarming.

“Everyone who came to our store was very excited to see a pet store in the area. A lot of people don’t know we are there because we are waiting for outside signage, which we should get this week,” said Ashiq.”
