South End tiny restaurant Shiraz has reopened after a month long reno, in case anyone was worried

Almon St Billiards has moved to 3200 Kempt, and I believe now called Rail Birds

Bulk Barn in Bayers Lake is closed for a few weeks as it goes through a quick reno, expect the yellow to be replaced by their new black scheme.


Mastermind Toys has their signage up on their new Dartmouth Crossing store, and the paint job is done at the Bayers Lake location both are scheduled to open this fall and both share plazas with Party City.

Danish lingerie retailer Change.in the works to expand from 16 to 40 stores in Canada in next couple years 75% of their bras sold are DD-M. No HRM store announced yet, but when stores hit the 25 location mark in Canada, we usually see one.

Vegan fast food Copper Branch also plans to expand. The Quebec based chain plans to add 40 stores to its 12 already.

  1. I like the idea that the new uscans will be 6 items or less. I believe the main idea behind them is for ‘quick’ convenience.
    I sometimes see a person with a cartload going through one…..,hmmmm.

    • I remember 5-10 years ago when the self-checkout line at Wal-Mart in Bedford was always so long that it lost its convenience factor. Now, though, the self-checkouts are almost always free.

  2. Almon has “moved” but only in spirit. Railbirds has 16 new 9-foot tables and is a vastly superior space. They’ve soft-opened but plan to officially open in August, so don’t yet have an operational kitchen and could use some more chairs around the pool tables. Otherwise this is a tournament-class room.

    FYI: A “railbird” is a pool spectator. They tend to chirp at each other and sometimes the players.
