Grounded is now open in Historic Properties where TIBS was. I had a doughnut that was delicious and filling.

Way 2 Roll (Sushi Burritos) is now open on Brenton St

M&M Food Market is returning to Sackville where M&M Meat Shop closed earlier this year; the new one will be corporate run, the previous was a franchise.

SPCA is opening a Thrift Store at the corner of Windmill and Akerley next month

Nova Scotia Kids (Asian skate, streetwear) opening on Hollis next month where RCHMND was by the Cogswell Interchange (*not actually for kids)

The Starbucks in the Harbourfront Marriott has closed and will open as another coffee shop called Balancing Rock

Bluenotes in Halifax Shopping Centre closing by the end of July clearance has started.

Frenchy’s in South Centre (Spryfield) is closing at the end of the month

Longtime Burnside watering hole Angie’s has closed its doors.

I mentioned last week that a Montreal-style bagel shop was opening beside the bridge on Wyse Rd. Well, it’s called Bagel Montreal Style, and it will be legit. Hand rolled and baked in a wood-fired oven; the owner worked at the legendary St-Viateur in Montreal for 18 years

The Maple on Hollis at Sackville will be home to The Exchange and another location of Smiling Goat Espresso

The bar opening in Purdy’s Wharf isn’t going to be in, it will be out. A beer garden style patio service by a mobile kitchen and mobile bar will open next month., and be called Wharfside.

A couple months ago I mentioned a country bar called Ruby Rhinestone would open on Barrington St. Well I was close they will be opening on Salter Street under 2 Doors Down same entrance as Reflections later this summer.

The restaurant at Indian Lake Golf Course is now called Martin’s Grill, being by Martin Keyzlar (former owner of Fiasco) For the last few seasons the restaurant was run by Horizons who have now moved to the Armdale Yacht Club

The Economy Shoe Shop has completed it’s reno and has reopened.

Cape Breton style pizza, Kenny’s now has  a Facebook page for their new Cole Harbour location opening next month

La-z-boy is getting a major reno, a clearance has started and then they will temporary move in the plaza behind them for a little while.

The Payless that was scheduled to open in Halifax Shopping Centre has been scraped. No surprise as the parent company is currently under bankruptcy protection.

  1. It would be interesting if you could provide updates on the construction in the city since it has a major affect on so many retail businesses. I would walk up and ask one of the many construction crews but then I’d have to speak to them 🙁
